Most Europeans Live in Urban Areas

In the recent Draft Report on the urban dimension of EU policies (2014/2213(INI)) that has been created by the European Parliament’s Committee on Regional Development with Kerstin Westphal, as a rapporteur it has been suggested that European population is ever more following an already established trend of moving to urban areas. Despite the fact that most Europeans already live in urban areas, it has been estimated that this tendency is increasing with approximately 80% of the European population living in urban areas by the year 2050. This would signify a rise of 10%, as compared to the year 2014.
