Purchasing Patterns This Holiday Season

Have you read the latest Monocle Minute? The article sheds light on interesting purchasing patterns in Europe. Namely, this holiday season Germans are likely to choose printed products over high tech gadgets.

Referring to data from Handelsdaten, a retail-statistics service, Monocle reports that approximately 49% of Germans will opt for books, which is second to money as the most popular present for holidays. Whereas more than 500 bookstores have closed in UK during the past years, Berlin alone welcomed more than 50 new independent bookshops.

What about you? Do you prefer printed copies or do you read your books on a tablet/IPad/reader? Are you an independent bookshop owner? We would love to hear from you.
