World’s Most Ethical (WME) Companies Ranking was introduced in 2007. It recognizes leaders in the world of business in regards to compliance and ethical business practices – it acknowledges companies that set examples in this domain for other companies to follow.
This selection is open to everyone around the globe and companies can nominate themselves or be nominated. Selected companies are not listed according to merit and they are considered equal on the WME Companies list. The rating framework that was developed by Ethisphere takes into consideration ethics and compliance program (25%), corporate citizenship and responsibility (25%), reputation, leadership and innovation (20%), culture of ethics (20%) and governance (10%). This framework is a set of multiple-choice questions called Ethics Quotient (EQTM)
Selected companies are truly ethical – they promote ethical business standards, introduce best practices and follow previously set-up ethical standards. They tend to exceed minimum compliance requirements, while ethical principles drive their businesses.
